Welcome to Letters We Owe. These terms explain, in plain words, what the service offers, how payment works, and what happens to your data. They apply to every letter request made on the site. By sending your request, you accept them.
The service is intended for individuals, for personal use. It is reserved for adults.
Who provides this service
The service is published by C2SL, a simplified joint-stock company (société par actions simplifiée) with a share capital of €100, registered with the Grasse Trade and Companies Register (RCS) under number 892 281 510, whose registered office is at 6 rue Soutrane, 06560 Valbonne, France. Letters We Owe is a trade name of C2SL.

What the service does
Letters We Owe helps you write a letter you need to write but cannot manage to write on your own: to someone close, to a parent, to a friend, to a child, to someone you have lost, or to yourself.
In practice, today:
- you answer a short guided interview on the site, which brings out what you really want to say;
- you leave us your email address so you can receive your letter;
- a member of our team writes your letter from your answers, with the help of an artificial intelligence tool, then proofreads it;
- we send you a personal link to your letter, usually within a few hours and at the latest within seven days.
What we do: we help you find your words and shape them, for a letter that sounds like you.
What we do not do: we do not make up what you have not said, and we promise nothing about what will happen next. A letter may never be read, may be read without a reply, or may not mend what you hoped it would. Our work ends when you hold your text. What comes next is yours.
We may refuse or stop a request that falls within one of the cases described on our Our ethical limits page, or when the interview does not provide enough material to write a letter. In that case, you pay nothing.
You choose the price
The service works on a pay-what-you-want basis.
- Once your letter is ready, you read it in full, without paying anything first.
- If it has touched you, you choose the amount you want to pay. Suggested amounts are offered: €3, €9 or €30, or an amount of your choice. If you pay, the minimum amount is €3.
- You may also pay nothing. This choice is expected and accepted: you keep your letter in exactly the same way.
All amounts are stated inclusive of all taxes (French VAT at 20% included). The sum you choose to pay is the price of the service provided, not a donation: it does not entitle you to any tax relief. An invoice is sent to you by email for each payment.
There is no subscription and no commitment. Each payment is a one-off and is never renewed.
Payment, when it takes place, is made by bank card through a specialised payment provider. Your card details are entered on the provider's side and are never passed on to us.
Right of withdrawal
Before your letter is delivered, you may cancel your request at any time, without giving a reason, by writing to us at [email protected]. You will have paid nothing, and your interview will be deleted.
Once your letter has been delivered, the service has been fully performed. As no payment is requested from you before that delivery, the fourteen-day right of withdrawal no longer applies from that moment, in accordance with article L. 221-28, 1° and 13°, of the French Consumer Code.
In practice, you only pay if you choose to, after reading your letter in full: you are never bound to an amount you have not chosen with full knowledge of the facts.
Guarantee
Your letter must match what these terms describe. If you have paid and it has not reached you, is illegible, or clearly does not match your interview, write to us: we will correct it or refund you. In any event, you benefit from the statutory guarantee of conformity for digital content (articles L. 224-25-12 et seq. of the French Consumer Code).
Your data
You may request the deletion of your data at any time, simply by asking, without having to give a reason. Details of what we collect, why, and for how long are set out in our Privacy policy.
Your letters belong to you
The content you create with our help is yours. We claim no rights over it.
What we expect from you
The service must not be used to harm others. Certain uses are expressly excluded (for example a context of violence, harassment, threats or manipulation). These limits are detailed on our Our ethical limits page, which forms an integral part of these terms.
You alone remain responsible for the use you make of your letter and for the decision whether or not to send it.
If something goes wrong
If the service does not work as intended, or if you have a complaint, write to us at: [email protected]. We always look for an amicable solution first.
Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute that cannot be settled amicably, the French courts have jurisdiction, under the conditions laid down by law. If you live in another country of the European Union, you keep the protection granted to you by the mandatory rules of your country.
